Harvest
Traditionally, in most parts of the country, walnut harvesting begins around mid-October when about 75 to 80% of the outer green pericarp has strong cracks. This is a process that involves beating the trees until the fruits fall and picking them from the ground either by hand or with special cloths that are laid around the root of the tree and collected in large sacks.
“New mechanical means and special techniques make it easier to harvest walnuts, lightening the work of the producer”
In recent years, with the mechanization of agriculture, harvesting is often done by mechanical means and includes a special vibrator, which vibrates the walnut tree and throws the fruit on the ground and is followed by the walnut harvester that collects the fruits. This achieves both simplification and maximum speed in harvesting, especially in cases of many acres of cultivation
